Compulsive thoughts as buffering?

Hi Brooke,
I sometimes have very dark thoughts/feelings that become repetitive, that I used to take as meaningful. They feel like buffering. It occurred to me today that I could deal with it like overdrinking/overeating- 100 unanswered urges to this kind of addictive thinking. I am very willing to allow these thoughts & feelings to float and not give it meaning beyond being buffering. I came to this understanding as part of planning for the resistance that comes up when I move toward my goals. What do you think ? Thank you
