Giving up sugar/flour and protocol

A bit confused but thats ok lol. I feel like i may have missed one of the videos explaining this. I realize its my choice i can do this however i want but i am looking for your suggestion. With that being said, do you suggest we first give up sugar and flour but not design are protocol at first? Do we give up flour and sugar for 4 weeks and then start our protocol? For some reason i thought i read that but looking back i cant find it anywhere.
