Resisting to create a protocol

While I would only like to lose 5 lbs or so, what I am looking for more than anything is to feel that I am disciplined. The mindless eating/ overeating/ grazing habits create self-doubt and negative self-talk. I would like to have a protocol and stick to it, but the rebel in me does not want that. I don’t want to feel limited. What’s up with that?! Please shine the light! Can the protocol be no-grazing, no mindless eating? Is that enough?
