Understanding actions to feel better

I understand that an action doesn’t create better feelings. But when I do certain things I do feel better when I’m not at a good feeling place.
Like walking outside. A sunny day. Good weather. A workout. Talking to a friend. Looking at an inspirational video.

When I do these things I feel like it puts me in a better place to then create thoughts that create the feelings I want to be in.

Can you help me understand this?
