Weight loss – how long to make the protocol stick?

I have been trying to get going with a protocol (2 meals, no flour or sugar) for at least 4 weeks now. I’m sticking with it that when I go off, even for a few days, I go right back to the protocol because I know it’s all part of the process. But how long does it typically take people to get it to stick? I have literally decades of thought patterns that don’t serve in this area, so I know I need to be patient, but I’m still curious how long others have taken to get on protocol for good. Thank you!
