I’ve been with my current firm 5 years. I’ve been told this week that I should start looking for a job elsewhere as I did not bring enough revenue over the past five years and did not leave up to the expectations they had that I would develop my practice. I agree with them that I did not attract as much business as I’d hoped, although I invested myself a lot in marketing activities and the like.

I am thinking that this is a big failure that I did not make it there. I have a hard time changing my thoughts to something that would serve me more as I think that objectively a majority of my peers would also consider it as a failure.

I am also questioning what I should do next – join a similar structure with the risk that it would be the same or go solo but having to forgo some of the work that can be done only in that type of firm.
