Is it as simple as letting go?

I just read Michael Singer’s The Untethered Soul. It’s a beautiful book, one I’ll have to revisit again and again, as it is beyond understanding at the knowledge level. His teaching isn’t as practical or literal as yours. He recommends simply learning to relax and let go, every time you feel your heart close. So every time you feel negative emotion, practice relaxing and letting go. Is this the same as allowing, as you teach?

I’ve been trying to figure out “what it all means” and “how to feel/process emotions” and I think that’s been keeping me in negative spin. It feels “dangerous” to just let it go, without trying to figure out why I feel this way, or how to feel it through, or how to allow it. I think my brain spins it into something difficult, which makes me more frustrated at why I can’t figure out how to allow a negative emotion. But by trying out Singer’s relax and let go technique, I feel immediately lighter. So I guess my question is, am I doing it right? Is it really as simple as relaxing and letting go, every time? You mean, I don’t have to figure it all out?!
