Programmed weight

I am 5 feet, 8.5 inches exactly in height, 54 years old and 148 pounds. My ideal weight (from my younger years) is 143. I am struggling with losing the last five pounds, I lose it and then gradually creep back up to 148 (yes…I am eating a little more beyond protocol) where it holds. It seems like my body wants to be at 148. I look good at 148 but look and feel better at 143. But it is a lot of work for me to keep it at 143. Wondering if I should just accept the additional five pounds or is that a cop-out?
