21-year-old son won’t get a job and his car payment is due soon

My husband and I are not seeing eye-to-eye about our adopted 21-year-old son. He quit his job a week or so before the pandemic began, and now he is using the pandemic as an excuse to make no effort to find a new job because many places are laying off workers or not hiring right now. His car payment is due on April 18, and he doesn’t have the money. I think we need to help our son to make the payment during the pandemic, but my husband does not see it that way. He says the young man is lazy and we are enabling him. What is the right thing to do? Our son comes from a PTSD background, so we try to tread lightly with him, but my husband is getting mad about the excuses.
