5 second rule


I’ve been reading Mel Robbins book “The 5 Second Rule” and curious about how it ties to the Model.

Basically she teaches to count backwards from 5-4-3-2-1 and then take action because our brains will resist after 5 seconds and talk us out of whatever we don’t feel like doing.

In the Model, our feelings create our actions but sometimes taking action despite how we are feeling is how to get momentum started. Like feel the fear and do it anyway.

It’s super helpful if we’ve gotten to a place where our thoughts and feelings are onboard with the action we want to take but what about that primitive brain’s tendency to not want to change?

Any thoughts on the 5 second rule in conjunction with the Model?
