50% balance

I’m not sure if i am getting mixed up with 50/50 emotion concept, thoughts and discomfort.

If we are going to feel negative emotion 50% of the time why cant we control this by changing our thought about the situation? Why doesn’t this apply to the scenario? Or does it?

Would you say that we could use that 50% discomfort for growth, we are going to feel discomfort and negative 50% of the time anyway so we may as well make it useful rather than feeling stuck and uncomfortable, or am I mixing up concepts here?
