Each year I have to propose a budget for the following year (I work in government) and in order to get a raise, I have to advocate for it. I have prepared a presentation with the numbers and it’s actually quite compelling. I have to present to a board of 7 individuals in a public meeting that anyone can attend, there is one member of the board who I perceive her thought to be that my job isn’t worth what I’m already being paid much less worth a raise. My actions so far are that I am trying to be as prepared as possible and be calm during my presentation. However, under the surface, I’m nervous and fearful of being in such a public setting. I have to present in October so I’m trying to get in a good headspace in advance, I’m looking for help on some thoughts that will be helpful when presenting to the board.
