I often find myself affected by others’ moods. Today my teenage daughter came in the house all huffy, was short with me, clearly was in a bad mood. This makes me feel stressed and I find myself affected by her.
Here is my model:
C: Daughters comes in and speaks quickly
T: Oh no, she’s in a bad mood
A; Take on the stress, bring negativity into self, allow it to affect me, nervous system tightens up
R: I create a bad mood in myself.
How can I allow her to have whatever kind of day she is having without letting it affect me? What is the balance of being compassionate to others while not letting it drag you down?
