Because I Want To? But Why?

I recently listened to podcast episode #357 “Because I Want To” and I’m feeling that this contradicts what we learned before that everything we want is because of how we think it will make us feel. Perhaps I’m just overthinking it but because I want to doesn’t seem like the logical end of the sentence. We want everything for a reason, maybe that reason is not that we think we will feel happier (although I have definitely been guilty of thinking that way).

Everything we want, we want because of how we think it will make us feel. That makes sense and resonates with me. However, simply because I want to, without rational thought behind, it doesn’t. How do both of these ideas work together?
