I listened to Brooke’s Belief Ceiling podcast and would like feedback on what might be my own belief ceilings, because I think they are circumstances. In a nutshell, I work in government, there is promotion I am going for, but a rule that promotions can only be given 8% raises (a C) but there is also evidence of that rule being broken (a conflicting C!)
Brooke applies the belief ceiling concept to literally everything in the external world, but I believe there are certain circumstances we can’t get around, for example, gravity, or the speed of light. I don’t know whether to spend my energy trying to break through the belief ceiling that I can only get a 8% raise for the job I want (I want a 28% raise for that job!) , or if I should step outside of the house, so to speak, to get out from underneath that ceiling (aka, look elsewhere for my next job). I dont know how/why other people get more than 8% in their promotions and it might not apply to me. I really do want that job though…
