Hi Brooke,
I am working “how to feel better” and am on the boundaries section. I would like to set a boundary with my kids. I have 3 boys (5, 8, 11). When I ask them to do something (go brush your teeth, do your chores, put the ipad away, etc) they typically never do it the first time I ask them. I then have to remind them 2-3-4 more times. I realize that I created this problem by not following through or demanding that they do it the first time asked of them. My husband says it once and they do it. So frustrating. No threats need to be made. They jump when he says it. I am struggling “my action” when they don’t do what I asked them the first time. I honestly don’t know what to do when they don’t listen. What is reasonable at this time since I in a weird way trained them to not listen to me?
Thanks for your help!
