Bringing a Thought to Neutral

I listened to your podcast How to Have A Better Life and I’m currently doing the exercise. I got stuck on the question “take one of your current negative thoughts and bring it to neutral” — I’m not quite sure how to do this?

The thought I want help with is “I don’t have a boyfriend. I am lonely” or “i don’t have enough friends here” but I’m not sure exactly how I could bring this to neutral. I think the thought ” I can take care of myself” or “I am learning how to be independent” but it still doesn’t get rid of the wanting to have a boyfriend or wanting to meet new people. Could you give me some examples to help a sister out? Thank you so much!
