Buffering with self help

I’m a person who has buffered My entire life with everything from A-Z. I gave up drugs, alcohol and I’m working on my food/binge tv buffers. I’m noticing that I spend a lot of time watching coaching calls, taking notes, listening to a lot of podcasts, journaling and doing the homework in scholars. All of these things I believe are self help but I’ve heard a few people say that we can also buffer with them. I’m confused because these things are so much better for me than the former and I don’t consider them buffering. Are they considered forms of buffering and if so, what’s the best way to continue doing the work without using them to escape?
