Calling it rest, but it’s actually closing down

In Monday’s class, Brooke says the following (I’ve paraphrased):

Challenges can make you more indulgent, less of what you want to be, a step backwards if you say no thanks. Sometime we go in the direction we don’t want to go, we call to rest or timeout, but it’s actually a closing down.

I’ve noticed that I close down on the weekends and wind up feeling numb. When she talked about this, I knew it was the experience that I’m having. I think I’m relaxing but really I’m numbing out.

Can you expand on this idea of closing down and numbing out? Things to look for, strategies for addressing. Thanks.
