Changing my thoughts vs. resisting a feeling

I’ve been using the model informally for a couple of months. Since joining scholars one thing I’ve noticed is that almost as soon as I identify a feeling that is uncomfortable I work to instantly change my thinking so that I don’t have to experience the uncomfortable feeling. This eventually works well when I can consciously identify the thought or feeling, clearly less so when it is unconscious or when I haven’t yet identified the thought. I’m curious, is using the model in this way actually a form of resistance? I have trouble sitting with an emotion for more than 5 minutes before trying to change it if unpleasant.
