Changing thoughts about sales

For a long time, I’ve had a general sense and thought that salespeople (or sales in general) are slimy, pushy, and deceitful. I don’t know where it came from, but I’ve always thought/felt that. Now, I want to change my thoughts around sales because I know how useful selling is as a skill and how crucial it is to business. What kind of thoughts would you recommend I try to use in my model?
