I’m a new health coach wanting to specialize in weight loss, and although I was formerly at my ideal weight, in the past year I experienced fluctuations and now have some to take off. I lack confidence to market myself as a weight loss coach until I lose my own weight (I would feel like a fraud — you can only take your clients as far as you’ve gone yourself).
Would you agree with this approach of doing things? Certainly it doesn’t “feel good” and seems self-critical to put business aspirations on hold while I get my own act together, but at the same time I view this process as worthwhile for my own growth, and to appear credible, etc.
Do I need to do thought work on my insecurity and start coaching now, OR lose the weight first and start helping clients once I’m back to my ideal?
