Contradicting journal responses

Here goes… I am a brand new scholar though a seasoned self-help Connoisseur. I noticed that my journal entries contradict each other. For example when answering the question, who am I? my initial response was: I am Smart…. In the next question, I believe I am____ because I think____. I wrote I believe I am 3 because I think I am dumb! I know that my answer to question 2 is ridiculous at the same time why is that the first thought that flew into my mind? Is it recommended to write the very first thought that comes to mind or should I think through my answers more throughly?
