daily weight check

I know that we’re supposed to look at the daily weigh in as a neutral circumstance, but aren’t we also using it as a barometer of how our protocol is working? Is the goal to be able to do this without negative emotion? Like just looking at the number and thinking, “That’s interesting. Perhaps my weight went up because of the _____ that I ate yesterday…let’s try not eating it and see what happens”, instead of “Of course I’m not losing weight. It’s too hard and I can’t control myself. This isn’t working.”

I feel good about my weight when it’s going down, but it seems go down, down, up, down, down, up, etc…so it’s those up moments that I feel need work. If the overall trend is down, then should my goal be to just roll with it and not try to make micro adjustments?
