Dealing with other peoples emotions

Hi Brooke,

I work with young children and often their mothers can be highly sensitive and emotional. I have had some stressful interactions over the years. I find their intense emotions to be stressful and quite frankly, frightening.
Here is an example of a model
C – Mom of one of my students email
T – She is crazy and emotional
F- Shocked perhaps even frightened
A- Feel very stressed and low patience

I really feel uncomfortable with people who display intense emotion. Mainly when I do not know them or my relationship with them is strictly proffessional. I think I have a strong aversion to these people. How do I think in a way that calms me so that I can deal with them in a supportive way?
