Dealing with shame

I am a perfectionist and have struggled a lot with shame. Recently this is what it looks like with respect to my work on overdrinking:
C: Drink off plan
T: Something is wrong with me
F: Shame
A: Avoid “learn and move on exercise”
R: Drink off plan again

Have you dealt with shame? It feels so powerful that it is hard to come up with any new thoughts and beliefs.
