Before starting Scholars, I thought of a circumstance as something that happened beyond my control; however, many of the circumstances in my models have actually been thoughts. In a coaching session, I realized that it helped me to find circumstances that are nouns (rather than complete sentences), but the circumstances I’m writing down now seem too vague. I went from writing ‘My mom complains a lot’ to just ‘Mom.’ In doing this, I feel like I’m deceiving myself (or not really getting at the root of the problem). Can I think of the circumstance (mom) as the thing I cannot change rather that something the person says or does? My mind is stubborn and I’m trying to find a way to make it believe haha!
