Disorders and feelings

Hi Brooke,
I understand that thoughts create feelings, but is that always the case? What about in cases like diagnosed clinical depression or ADHD or schizophrenia? These disorders are caused by chemical imbalances in the brain which make you feel depressed or scattered or paranoid. Would you classify these feelings as sensations, since they originate in the neurobiology of the brain and not from thoughts?

In the model I would put the diagnosis in the C line and look at the thoughts about the diagnosis. I see that it’s a circumstance but people often say they were prompted to get a diagnosis because of the way they were feeling. Also, medication often helps them feel better which again addresses the neurobiology and not the thoughts. Thanks!
