I am looking forward to doing the work on the past – it is very relevant to me. One question as I go through the workbook. When I go through my thoughts about the past, many of them are not about an “event”, but a thought I have about myself, my own behaviour. I cant lose weight. I cant stop drinking when I start. I have no self-discipline etc. These are thoughts based on long history – I have been so overweight for so long! Have made so many resolutions and failed at so many diets in the past. I don’t blame my mother, for instance, I blame myself. So it’s a thought based on the past. How do I make these work in the homework? You say to pick an event, when you blame something or someone for your thoughts, but not really relevant to issues like beliefs based on the past based on your own behaviour? Thanks.
