Eating Off Protocol Instead of Drinking

Hi – I am working on stopping buffering with drinking and I am doing really well. I am visiting my parents-in-law for the week and have not had a drink since being here! I’ve been writing my eating protocol each day, but at night when everyone starts drinking, I have been “allowing myself” to snack or eat things not on my protocol. My thought at the moment (when this happens) is “I’m not drinking and this food is healthy, so this is ok.” Later though, I realize that this thought isn’t providing the result I want.

My feeling at the time when I think this thought is “justified” (is that a feeling?). My question is – how do I practice a different thought ahead of time so that I don’t cheat myself in the moment? I am having trouble figuring out a bridge thought or better serving thought. Thank you!
