Experiencing emotion


I am practicing experiencing an emotion, without feeding it. I wanna weakness the ‘overdesire’ I have for something I don’t want to do anymore. My questions is, while the emotion, focusing on my breath, it’s considered buffering? I wanna observe and describe the emotion, but I am not sure if focusing on my breath it’s taking my attention away from feeling how the emotions actually feels in my body?
