Fat adaptation

Hello,

I’m super new. I’m looking forward to this journey (and am also slightly terrified!). I joined because I want to really manage my mind around food. I read Brooke’s original book on weight loss (“If I’m So Smart…”) and a lot of it really resonated with me – that’s why I joined. I am very aware that my work goes much deeper than food and I feel ready to get to the root of what I suspect is some problematic subconscious thinking patterns.

Anyway… I’ve been binge-watching the Overeating Workshop today.

I find when I’m not working, I can start eating a bit later (I can wait until like 11am before the discomfort really kicks in). On a work day, though, when I wake up much earlier, I find the discomfort so distracting. I’m watching the clock until lunch time instead of properly focusing on my work. Maybe it’s just that I need to work past that initial stage of withdrawal… but I guess I wanted some input/coaching on that.

I also have some questions about protocol. I am totally on board with no sugar/no flour… I follow this for much of my eating pattern already (except when I lose control, of course! which is, like, all the time). My question is about the balance of macronutrients. I’ve had my gallbladder out, so I’m concerned about going too high fat. When Brooke speaks about Fat Adaptation and using fat as fuel, is she referring to ketosis? I’ve been avoiding a Keto diet because I understand that a missing gallbladder and Keto is not a safe combo because I can’t process fat as well.

Can you tell me more about this?
