Feeling feelings vs. Changing the Thought – confusion

Hi Brooke,
You teach that I should be feeling my feelings, and that by “stepping into” the feelings, I would get comfortable with discomfort. This totally makes sense.
But we also learn that Thoughts create Feelings, and that I can change my Feelings by changing my Thoughts. This also makes sense.

These two ideas seem to be in contradiction.
Is the goal to be completely able to feel no matter what comes up?
Or to change my Thoughts so that the uncomfortable feelings (and therefore actions and results) either don’t arise, or to substitute the unintentional thought with an intentional thought to create the feelings I want?

I’m very confused. Please advise.
