feeling my emotions


I am working on feeling my emotions. Do you have tips of how to practice feeling emotions when I’m walking or meditating? Also, if I feel sad or disappointment an I want to cry should I cry or just notice that I want to cry? If I cry this brings up feelings of embarrassment if I feel sad in public. I have been told I wear my emotions on my sleeve, so I learnt how to avoid acknowledging my feelings in public.
Any pearls of wisdom you have would be great.
