Feelings cause thoughts???!

I was reading a book by Joe Dispenza who said that our feelings cause us to think. This perplexed me.

Then I started to stew on it. I love the model and my brain currently feels flipped upside down.

If I think back to before we — as humans — had language, how would thoughts (which are defined as sentences in our brain) cause feelings?

Also, as someone who struggles with PTSD I get triggered from time to time around certain things. This feels like it’s a circumstance that triggers the intense emotions. When someone is triggered, where is there time to think a thought? Those moments when a feeling just comes on…I’d love some clarity around all of this!

It’s like I can see both Joe and Brooke’s perspectives ….and they don’t make sense together.
