Feelings creating thoughts?


Dear Brooke, Thank you for your amazing work.

I have a question about the model. Although I believe that my thoughts often create my feelings, other times I feel sure my feelings are creating my thoughts – for example if I feel tired/unwell my mind seems to seek out negative thoughts to explain why I’m feeling that way – when I feel better physically I think more optimistically. Does this make sense? Are there situations where it makes sense to work directly on how you feel rather than trying to change your thoughts?
