good enough and 50/50

in episode 176 Brooke says that if we are neither good nor bad and 100% worthy no matter how do we decide to spend our life. Then, to the question “then why bothering trying to be good people?” she says because chosing to live our life on purpose makes us feel better. So if I live my life buffering with food/alcohol or I embrace the challenge of weight loss I I am anyway worthy and a good person, but choosing buffering will probably make me feel worse feelings than the purposeful option. If then the motivation for change is the promise of experiencing better feelings doesn’t this in the end contradicts the idea that our life will be anyway 50/50? Thanks!
