Help in categorizing emotions


I read in this months material that sadness is part of human experience and we need to allow that emotion.I get deeply saddened when I hear news about someone dying or anything negative happening in the world.I feel sad for them and then my thoughts start spinning around how my life would be if I have to face such situations ( more like fear ).But in this case these emotions don’t serve me right? Since I’m indulging in fear and sadness. Can you help me categorize emotions here?
