Help with a client who says she wants to lose weight


Hi Brooke,

I’m a health coach and I have a client who came to me with a goal to lose 50 lbs. We’ve uncovered that her thought is “Food is comfort”. Her feeling associated with this thought is: Happiness. I’m struggling with how to use the model in order to help her change her thought. After much conversation and thought provoking questions she seemingly does not want to get rid of this thought. I think is going to stop her from ever losing the weight she says she desires to lose. Can you help?

C – overweight
T – food is comfort
F – happy
A – continues to overeat and doesn’t follow through with her protocol
R – stays overweight

If she’s unwilling to change her thoughts. Does this mean she will need to accept being overweight?
