I am the caretaker of my grandmother who is in the early stages of dementia. She gets agitated watching the news. The other day she said, “If that man steals the election, they’re going to take all of our money and we’ll be poor.”

Here’s the model I built:
C-my grandma said, “If that man steals the election, they’re going to take all of our money and we’ll be poor.”
T- It’s my job to keep her calm and not agitated
F- upset
A-console her, give her broad facts and information, joke with her, argue with her thoughts that aren’t true, don’t change the subject, don’t listen as closely as I should
R- I agitate myself… Suggestions?

PS. I’m in CCP and am dissatisfied with the “rigor” of my C-line, but feel I have a very specific C and a robust A.
