How does the model apply to a divided self or nature?

I read a concept from a different life coach, Martha Beck where she states that integrity is the alignment of your mind, body, heart and soul where you feel a whole in you true nature. When you are divided your mind, body, heart and soul, your thoughts make you suffer. This means my thoughts are creating uncomfortable feelings. Because your true nature is divided in that moment between what you by nature want and the ideas or expectations from society or culture. So, if I’m divided, how just changing my thoughts can change the actions and results without myself being in my true nature?
