How to handle fatigue-related urges?


Had a good day taking care of my son but by 4pm realized our playground date had tired me out, too. He was ornery and I was less patient than earlier. I felt so drained and grumpy.

I had an urge for a caffeinated drink to help get my through the next two hours. I worked through it. Then I had an urge for a snack, thinking maybe my small lunch hadn’t given me enough fuel, and went back and forth to the fridge but resisted. I was feeding my toddler and didn’t feel like I could truly process the urge, though I tried.

In the end, I “compromised” with a banana which did nothing for my energy or mood.

How do you manage urges when you think you need it for “energy”? Is that untrue?
