How to practice desire


I’d like to get more clarity on how to want from a place of abundance. I often think “I want to do this because it would be enjoyable or fun” but I’m not sure if this is a good why because my thoughts about any circumstance could lead to the feelings of joy and fun. Thus, I’m not really sure what “good” reasons are for wanting. I’m not sure how to practice desire that doesn’t come from a place of wanting a feeling because I cannot identify another why that would exist for me. Maybe because I think it would be a good experience to have, but why would I think one experience is better than another? Do we just have innate desires and our why is because we innately want it?
