Hunger, not an urge

I think I can tell between hunger (which seems to appear very suddenly) from an urge – which is quite mindless / subconscious. Is it ok to quickly check in, identify I am hungry and eat? I can do it slowly, check my C/T/F and then eat? I think my meal plan is wrong and I am underestimating what I need for the day. I have tried just toughing it out and going hungry but I get light headed and can’t think. Maybe add in optional snacks??
