Intentional reading

I had a very large reading requirement in college. I loved it, but when I graduated it was so much fun to read whatever I felt like!!

Now after 3 years of this, I want to get more focused. There’s specific things I want to learn about, specific skills I want to develop, and I want to make time for the rich, challenging literature that takes some persistence to get through. But I also really, really love the feeling of stumbling across a random book and getting totally immersed in it.

I think there’s some scarcity thinking like, “There’s not enough time to read what I want.”

But beyond that, I’m wondering about making decisions to honor both my reading goals and the playful, childlike experience of getting lost in a surprising book.
