Intermittent Fasting & Calories

Hi Brooke,
I’ve been following the guidelines in Stop Overeating Workbook on pg 25 and have a 6 hour eating window, no sugar/flour, etc. I haven’t been counting calories and have just been eating according to the sample protocol plans. Out of curiosity today I calculated my typical daily calories and most days clock in around 900-ish calories or fewer per day.

This number of calories seemed fine to me since until I read the section in The Obesity Code that states “Decreasing Calories In triggers a decrease in Calories Out” (pg. 29).

If my body needs ~1,200-1,400 calories per day to function normally, wouldn’t that suggest that eating only 900 calories per day would cause my metabolism to slow down to because it has less energy to use? Or does that mean that my body is pulling the other 300-500 calories it needs from my fat stores? I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around this concept.

Thanks for your help! Lynn
