Is sleeping in / daydreaming a form of buffering?

There are often times when I find myself hitting snooze on my alarm ~ sometimes for several hours ~ and staying in bed late, half dozing, mostly dreaming. I imagine grand dramas in my head that are exciting and feel better than most things I need to deal with in my life.

It makes it hard to get up and face the day. But I find it really hard to stop.

Would you consider this a kind of buffering? Like watching Netflix in my own head?

How might I change this pattern to something more healthy?
