Is working on decreasing my fight or flight response a worthy goal?


A lot of my identity is wrapped up in my career, which I don’t necessarily consider to be a bad thing. However, I have been realizing that I have a lot of unresolved trauma and shame from my past and it can get in the way of my functioning and quality of life in insidious ways. I’m struggling to give myself permission to take it down a notch in my career in order to work on my mental health, because doing that feels and looks like doing nothing (ie not providing value to the world, not helping people).
I’d love any thoughts/ feedback on this. I feel like a lot of the content in LCS is focused on constantly challenging ourselves, adding more value to the world, and evolving, and so not doing those things seems to go against what I’m learning here.
