Keeping my power


I want to keep my power and not blame others in situations. I know blame is a way of giving my power away.
SO I am working on choosing my own thoughts that would give me better feelings and results.
But then I have the thought that comes up “What if you choose a better thought and then you look stupid because they played you”
or “don’t choose a better thought so you can protect yourself from the let down when they do hurt you”
or “your new thought does not help when they could actually be doing wrong by you”

How do I ladder to a new thought when so many counter productive thoughts come up to try and prevent it? I know they are all just thoughts but they really come in the way of my progress. LOL its like my mind REALLY wants to stay the same and is like a toddler fighting the change.
