My primary buffering strategy is to be lazy, to sit on the couch and watch tv (often accompanied by overeating) when I am overwhelmed, anxious, or any other indulgent emotion.
The word lazy feels negative and self-critical, so for kicks I looked up synonyms and found apathetic, inactive, sluggish…not much better.
Anyway, if I work up a model on this I find myself not sure where to put it. Is it a feeling? Is it the action? Is it a thought? It kind of seems like it depends on the situation, but it’s always there and I’d like to just get to the root of it so that I can stop it and get to work! 🙂
